Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are we a non-profit and are donations tax exempt?
A. Yes to both. We are incorporated as a non-profit in NC and are a 501©3 charity. All donations are tax-exempt.

Q. Where does the money go?
The funds are used to support the animals,  we have very little overhead expense.. We encourage you to ask to see a financial statement from all charities before you write them a check.

Q.Do you get funds from the government?
A. No, we get no county or state funds. We are support entirely by donations from wonderful people like you and fundraiser's.

Q.Are you a no-kill group?
A. Yes, we do not euthanize for space.  We only euthanize if the animal is medically suffering and it is the advice from our veterinarian.

Q. What are your accomplishments?
A. We have rescued over 60 blind cats that would have been euthanized and provide them with lifetime sanctuary. We trapped and spayed/neutered a feral colony stopping them from reproducing. (We have found that a lot of blind cats come from the inbreeding of feral colonies.) We hosted a rabies clinic and gave out over 100 discount spay/neuter certificates. We also set up at 2 festivals giving out another 108 discount spay/neuter certificates.   We have built a new facility to house the cats. We have facilitated more blind cats being rescued on Facebook.

Q.What are your plans for 2011?
A.  More fundraiser's to take care of the cats, hosting another rabies low cost spay/neuter clinic, set up at more festivals and continuing giving out more discount spay/neuter certificates, recruiting volunteers.  Build a second shelter building to house FIV/FEL+ cats.

Q. Do you need volunteers?
A. Yes! We would love to have people to come out and love on the cats and help us with fund-raising events. Give us a call if you are interested. 910-850-0009

Q. Tell us more about the sponsorship program.
A. We are asking for a commitment from you of $30 per month for each cat you sponsor.  You will get a thank you and pictures of "your cat".  You will get updates and more pictures quarterly.

Q. How will the money be used?
A. It costs approx $3000 per month for food, litter, flea control and other supplies to take care of everyone. The sponsorship fees will help cover those expenses and give us the funds to take care of medical needs. Many of these cats come in with no financial support or vetting and must have everything done.
