Gina

Gina shows how much it takes a village to save a life.  She was posted to a group on Facebook that shares daily all the cats sitting on death row in the NYC animal control facility that will be euthanized the next day.  Some one saw her and immediately posted it to us.  We posted it to our Facebook page asking for someone to step up to the plate and give her a home.

No one was willing to give her a home, so we agreed to take her.  We told them someone in NYC would have to step up to the plate to pull her and get her to us.   And an amazing lady named Giovanna did just that.  She called us to make sure we would take her and headed to the pound.   A wonderful man named Steven had posted that if someone got her to Washington DC  he would drive her the rest of the way.    So Giovanna went to the pound and got her,  kept her over night, rented a car and drove from NYC to DC handing her off to  Steven.  Steven drove her the last 5 hours to us.

This little lady is 9 years old and in some pretty rough shape.  She had never been spayed!!  The people who dumped her stated on the intake form that they had only had her for 1 year.  Even though she almost died, dumping her at the pound ultimately was the best thing that ever happened to her.

We took her to the vet,  got her spayed.  She had 2 huge uterine cysts removed.  Removed both of her eyes. ( She had no sight in them,  one had completely collapsed and one was hard as a rock from glaucoma and had to be causing her considerable pain!)  And got her a much needed dental done.  She had several rotted teeth, one with roots showing.  This poor little lady had to be in so much pain.

She is now home,  on good pain meds,  a couple of antibiotics and recovering nicely.   She is very very sweet considering everything that has happened to her.  I know she is grateful to be alive.
