Peter was rescued by a rescue in LA, Ca.... below is the actual letter of appeal that she sent out and it explains most of his story. Peter is a wonderful sweet fellow, both blind and deaf and that doesn't seem to bother him. He is very friendly, has not missed the litterbox once. He loves to talk to you, and kneeds like crazy when you scratch his back. We appreciate Michele saving him and flying him to us!!
Hi everyone,
I intercepted a woman on Friday who was calling around to find a vet to get her 8 year old cat euthanized (lucky my vet called me) apparently this sorry excuse for a human adopted two kittens 8 years ago and the little boy a couple of years ago was outside and got hit by a car and became blind and deaf.
Here's her excuse for dumping her cats "Her son is getting married the end of the year and his new wife is allergic" - she gave me 5 days to find a place for him or she was going to dump him at the shelter. I asked her since her son was getting married at the end of the year why she only had five days to place him, she said "it's a deep and personal matter and I need you to leave it at that." I couldn't help myself so I said to her, "oh so the cat is now inconvenient and you need to dump him." She had nothing to say.
I tried to explain it was kitten season and everyone was full but she could have cared less, I asked what happened to his sister, she found a home for her but no one would take the boy, when I explained that no vet (that had any decency) would euthanize a healthy cat her comment was "but he's blind and deaf" I told her so what and asked if he was healthy in general, she said "oh yeah". Lovely woman.
So he's at my vet getting checked out, he's a darling orange and white boy (I've posted his photo. I met him on Friday, he's very sweet and gentle and gets around just fine and gets along with other cats, I just cannot keep him, I'm already full with special needs cats and cannot financially or emotionally afford another one right now.
So, I am sending out this plea to all of you to see if any of you can help him, maybe a sanctuary where he can spend the rest of his life in peace? There is a donation that I wrangled out of the woman that he comes with and he will be fully vetted, please let me know if you have any room for him?
I could not let this poor little man end up in either an unscrupulous vet being euthanized or the shelter, either end met death for him because of this pathetic human.
Thank you so much,
