Jasmine
8/2016 Jasmine is a sweet FELV+ kitty who came to us from Oregon. Jasmine had all the stars align to come to North Carolina. She was with a rescue who was running out of time and they could not find a place on the west coast that could take her. Our director was going to Spokane Washington to visit her daughter, if the rescue was willing to have some one drive 6 hours to bring her to Spokane she could fly back with her. They got her medical papers in order, her flying carrier, harness trained (she had to be carried thought security, she had to come out of the carrier, taking no chances, she had a harness and leash attached, we did not want a scared loose kitty in the airport) She traveled like a champ, is super friendly and ready to go in to her room.

9/14/2019 RIP- Jasmine This is a letter I knew i was going to have to write, but I hoped we would have a few more weeks before I had to do it. We took Jasmine to the vet earlier this week for weight loss (we weight the cats weekly) for leukemia positive cats weight loss is the first sign that there is a problem. Blood work was done and the results were not good, she had no white blood cells. We scheduled an ultrasound for this Tuesday, unfortunately today she coughed up a blood clot, the staff gave her some extra love and we rushed her to the vet, blood work was done again and she had gotten worse, there was nothing that we could do, it was time to euthanize. Alana takes the responsibility of having to make these decision very seriously. Even though she is in Alaska she and the vets had lots of conversations before they decided to do anything. BUT we also believe that we should allow the cats to live with dignity and die with dignity. We never want to have waited so long that they are suffering a horrible death at the end. She went over the rainbow bridge purring in my arms. Jasmine will be remembered as the sweet girl in room 2 who you could always find running the wheel. We were blessed to have spent the last three years with her. She will be miss.
