Sponsored by Jim - Thank you! 11/23/2020 RIP Socks came to us 9 years ago from a shelter that was being closed because the animals were not being properly cared for.  She was FIV+ and the rescues working with them were having problems finding placement for her and the other FIV+ cats.   We had agreed to take 2 of them.  They asked me how to pick the 2,  I told them to sit down on the floor and the first 2 in her lap get to come.  That is how Socks came to be with us.  When she arrived she was thin, frightened, and had lost a lot of her hair from lack of proper nutrition.  It took a few months but she settled in.  She gained weight, regrew her hair, and made friends with the other cats.   Socks loved to cuddle with the other cats.  Bear was her favorite.  Last night she had a severe seizure and was rushed to the vet.  She had never had a seizure before.  She was hospitalized and blood work etc was done.  During the night she had another seizure.  The vet started her on phenobarbital.  This morning the vet called.   He felt that this was much more serious than epilepsy,  he said I really needed to come and see her, I would understand what he was talking about when I saw her.   He said it was like she was not in there.  She was circling the cage non-stop, head pressing, yowling, was not alert to what was going on,  He strongly felt we were dealing with a brain tumor.  She had another seizure right after he called.  When I arrived I understood what he meant,   Her body was there, but she was not cognitive to what was going on.  We discussed choices but at the end felt this was something really bad and it was better to let her go.    We are going to have a necropsy done to see what we were really dealing with.      Socks was a very sweet affectionate kitty who loved to sit in everyone's laps and loved to cuddle with the other cats.  Bear and her humans will miss her very much.
