Her Animal Control Picture
Approximate Age (As of 2017): 19 years Breed: Domestic Short Hair Status: Blind Date Arrived: May 2012 Arrival Location: North Carolina Abbey is a blind cat that came to us in 2012 when she was 14 years old. She had been with her former family since she was a kitten when they dumped her at Animal Control, where she was to be euthanized. At the last minute she found some luck in that the facility decided to try and reach out to the community to see if anyone would adopt her - despite the state protocol being immediate euthanasia. After arriving at BCR we immediately took her to the vet for a much needed eye removal surgery (which you may see in her first arrival photos) and dental care. When she first arrived she was in absolute shock and very depressed. We cannot begin to imagine the pain she felt losing her family, home, and everything she had ever known. She was a sweet cat though then, and now years later has continued to be a sweetheart. You may watch her 24 hours a day LIVE on her MeShare camera. She is in House 2, room 3.
Abbey was so depressed after losing her home she stopped eating.  We had a feeding tube put in and worked hard to convince her she was loved and would never lose her home again.
With feeding tube.
