Tabitha
4/2015   Tabitha came to us from Bladen Animal Control.  I received a text from the rescue that works with the shelter with the message that she had just come into the shelter and was going to be put down in 2 hours if they could not find a rescue for her.  She is Blind.  North Carolina law states that if an animal comes in injured, sick or blind they may be euthanized immediately instead of holding for the 72 hour stray hold.  Tabitha is sick with a bad upper respiratory infection and eye infection.  Because she arrived late Friday afternoon we started her immediately on antibiotics and eye antibiotics and was taken to the vet first thing Monday morning.  We did not feel she was so sick that she needed to go in as an emergency.  She is friendly but frightened.  Her blood work pleasantry surprised us, she is FIV negative.  Being an intact female, stray and sick gave us good odds of FIV. Update,  she has had her eyes fixed, got her healthy.  You may watch her live on http://ustream.tv/blindcatrescue on Tuesday’s. She is still very shy Sponsored by Stephanie - Thank you!
