People ask what it’s like to have a blind cat. Blind cats are very capable of adapting to any kind of environment, given proper care, nourishment, and attention. They use their senses to orient themselves, and once they’ve done that, they behave just like any normal cat does. We always say a blind cat does not know they are blind, they know they are cats, they act like cats. Blind cats love to lounge around, and they also love to play! In the case of a blind cat, toys they can hear or smell prove to be more useful and fun to use. Here are many that our cats like to play with.
Plenty of sound helps them track and hunt. https://amzn.to/2XVCVBn
Tower of Tracks
Catnip Hurricane
You will find the cats often playing with this one. It is amazing to see how fast a blind cat can switch the balls from one direction to the next. https://amzn.to/2L29FVX
Crinkle Toys
What kind of toys do blind cats play with?
As they swat the balls around the room they chase the crinkle sounds. https://amzn.to/2MZPyKM
Blind Cats depend on their sense of smell. https://amzn.to/2L37Wj7 Catnip toys are always a favorite. These have a very strong scent.
Jingle balls - Lots of sound! https://amzn.to/2XZSAzG
This is another favorite of the cats: It goes around and around, makes lots of sound and they love to pounce on it. The seeing cats love it too! https://amzn.to/2J1Wba9
The locomotion is another favorite of the seeing and blind cats! Goes around and around, makes noise, they like to drag it off like they would prey.
Scratch and rest - The cats love these, they scratch them but they really love sleeping in them. Popcorn approves! https://amzn.to/2Nb1Obq
Cat Wheel
This is hit and miss with many of the cats. We actually have 14 or so blind cats that will run the wheel out of 60+ cats. We have 6 seeing cats that will run. Teaching younger cats is easy, if they can see and chase a laser toy it just takes a few tries to get them using it. If they are older or over weight they will have zero interest in the wheels. Our fat ones laugh at us at the very idea (smile) They are lazy. You may get one at https://onefastcat.com
