11/18 Catherine is a leukemia positive kitty who who came to
us from an Animal Control with her sister and another kitten. They
all arrived sick with upper respiratory (which is pretty normal from
animal control.) She is super friendly and playful.
Update, Catherine is growing up to be a very playful girl, loves to
run on the wheel and play with the humans.

Dear supporters,
It’s with great sorrow to inform you that Catherine has passed over the
rainbow bridge. She had become neurological yesterday morning. Staff
noticed her limping on her back leg and notified me. When I went to look at
her she was having issues using both her hind legs. Our first concern was she
fell and somehow hurt herself. Her legs were not causing her any pain
worried she had thrown a clot. We gave her some aspirin and rushed her to
the vet. Since it was the weekend we had to go to the emergency vet. A major
clot was ruled out because she had equivalent heart rate and blood sugar in
both legs. Her pupils were drastically different sizes, a clear sign of
something neurological. Things were drastically changing for our very sweet
Catherine. The vet and I both agreed that it was time to let her go.
We had spent a couple of hours in the examination room together where she
had sat in my lap purring and had dozed off. Once we made the decision that
was best for her I held her in my arms so she could look out the window. She
enjoyed the landscape of tall grass and birds swooping into the tree branches.
Curiosity was still overflowing with her. I held her in my arms as she passed
over the rainbow bridge.
It’s always hard to walk in with everyone eating and being their everyday
selves and an unexpected loss happens as the day ends. We are so grateful for
the almost 6 years that we were able to give Catherine her forever home. She
was so loved and admired for her curiosity. Myself, staff, and visitors had
learned so much from her, especially how to stay young at heart.
She beat the odds of a FeLV kitten surviving her first year of life since she
contracted it before 16 weeks of age when their immune system is still weak
and developing.
Because of you, she was given the greatest chance at life by providing quality
food, and medical care, and showered with love.
