Felv Gender: Male Approximate age: 4 years old (as of 2025) Arrived From: Miami County, Ohio Arrival Day: January 11, 2025
Casanova is a FeLV cat who has found his forever home with us after an incredible journey from Ohio. His story starts in Miami County, Ohio, where a group of cats, including the original Ohio 12 we rescued in July 2024, were in desperate need of a safe haven. The facility they were in was overcrowded, and many of the cats were in poor health, including a group of 17 FeLV-positive cats. When Animal Control executed a search warrant, 43 cats were removed from the facility, but uncertainty loomed for the ones in the "Leukemia Room." Without immediate intervention, these sweet souls faced an uncertain future. Blind Cat Rescue knew we couldn’t stand by and let that happen. Despite already being at capacity, we quickly mobilized our team to help. We secured approval for an emergency intake and made the 29-hour round trip to Ohio to bring these precious cats to safety. Initially, we brought 12 cats back with us, under the assumption that the remaining cats would either be adopted or placed in foster care. However, due to an ongoing investigation, we were left without answers about the five cats we had to leave behind. Several months later, a dedicated volunteer who had initially raised the alarm about the cats' safety reached out to us for help. Casanova, along with his companion Gregory, made the 10-hour journey to us, and they’re now receiving a full veterinary workup before being reunited with their friends from Ohio. As this remains an ongoing investigation, we are unable to release further details at this time. However, we are committed to ensuring these cats are safe, healthy, and have the best possible future ahead of them.
