In response to an urgent email reporting a stranded blind kitten, our
team at the Blind Cat Rescue sprang into action. The kitten, abandoned
on a property just a few miles away, faced imminent danger from a pack
of stray dogs known for their predatory instincts. The person who
discovered her was understandably alarmed and reached out for help,
but animal control is not accepting animals and said even so they would
have to euthanize her and other rescues were already overwhelmed with
animals. Despite our own facilities being at maximum capacity, our
director refused to turn a blind eye to the plight of this defenseless feline,
embodying the spirit of rescue and advocacy that defines our organization.
“Snatching up a crate, I rushed out, contemplating the challenge of
accommodating a cat we didn't officially have space for at our sanctuary.
We had a partnership with another rescue known for finding homes for
blind cats, and my original plan was to get her vetted, spayed, and placed
in a forever home. Blind Cat Rescue has educated about blindness for the
last 20 years and thinking this would be a full circle success story. But it
swiftly became evident: she had already deemed Blind Cat Rescue as her
forever home.”

Cricket is fearless and loves everybody that walks through BCR’s doors.
She will be having surgery in June to have her spayed. She is currently in
the lobby while we decide which room she will be in!
