9/14/2023 This is a hard letter to write for everyone. Our cuddly giant, Dennis, passed over the rainbow bridge this morning. Dennis has had three vet visits over the past month due to his weight loss. On Tuesday, he was not eating and was taken to the vet to be hospitalized and given a feeding tube. We are stumped. His bloodwork was normal. His surgery went well and was supposed to come home tomorrow. The night tech monitored him all night. He was alert and seemed very comfortable. During shift change this morning and during hospital rounds he passed away. It's unclear at this time what caused his passing but our greatest foe cancer is suspected. We are getting a necropsy done so we hopefully have a chance to know what happened.. We will miss his long stretches across the floor offering his belly while purring in complete bliss. His persistence to escape for the lobby so he can take the visitors and staff on a stroll through the memorial garden. We will miss the nibbles of excitement he would bestow when he was enjoying the cuddles, but it was the ultimate sign of gratitude for snacks and catnip. As his favorite scratcher is left empty we are left reminiscing over his stoic pose where he enjoyed life around him. We are comforted to know that he was given four and half years with us because of your wonderful and generous support. We are heart broken.
