Greta
2007 Little Greta owes her very life to a volunteer with the SC Horrey County HS. (A kill shelter) She took Greta home
to foster her until she could find a home for her. Greta was born blind, was very thing and sick with an upper respiratory
infection. She was at the top of the kill list. Vicki contacted us and asked us to take her. What could we say? :)
Antibiotics have made a world of difference for her. She is eating now and doing much better. In 2 months we will
take her to be spayed.
12/13/2007 The little girl is growing up! We got her spayed & had her under developed eyes removed. They
were giving her lots of problems and since she could not see, it was not going to make any difference to her.
She is the sweetest little lover who loves to cuddle and play.

12/26/2020 Update. Sweet Greta is now a senior kitty. She has had ups and downs with her health. She has
developed asthma and other health issues. She has had a feeding tube and ultrasounds. Through out all of that
she is still a sweet loving girl! We enjoy her loving purrs every day.

1/14/2022 RIP Greta -
Greta (blind) came to us in 2007 from an animal control facility as a very sick kitten.
She was at the top of the list to be euthanized for being blind and ill, but we were
able to save her the day before her life was scheduled to be ended.
Greta has grown up to be one of the sweetest cats you will ever meet, though sadly
she has struggled with many medical problems over the years. Feeding tubes,
asthma, lung damage (from asthma), double knee luxation, severe arthritis, and so
on. At this point, Greta is in constant pain despite the copious use of pain-relieving
medications to help make her comfortable, and she is ineligible for any surgeries
that could improve her quality of life due to the lung damage.
We were advised by a veterinary special in Raleigh four years ago (when her health
really began to go downhill) that Greta would likely not survive another year given
the condition of her lungs. We have had four more years with her than we thought
we would get, but we (and her veterinarian) think it is time to let her go. I brought her
home last night after another veterinary appointment, accompanied by some
powerful pain medications, to give her one last good day here with her family. Today
Greta and I made our last trip to the vet to send Greta over the Rainbow Bridge.
She passed away quietly in my arms.
While the decision to let her go is gut-wrenching, and not one we have made lightly,
Greta deserves a quality of life that we and her veterinarian strongly believe is
permanently out of her reach. Greta has been with nearly 15 years, and we hope
you understand that we love and cherish her too much to let her suffer without any
hope of recovery. She will always be one of our favorite cats, and we thank you all
for loving her as much as we have over the years, to the very end ❤
