2006 Penny is both Blind and Deaf. She was brought to us by a lady up in the mountains that had had her for a year or so. She stated that she had found her on her front porch one day and she wouldn't leave. She said she was allergic to kitty litter and no longer wanted the cat. She had tried for a year or so to find a home for her and no one wanted her. Penny was very lucky that a friend of the lady knew what was going on and contacted us to take her.Penny is a super sweet girl with a big time purr. I have never seen a cat that liked to climb as much as she does. When we look for her we know to always look up because she will be at the top of the climber. She had belonged to someone at some point in her life, When the lady found When the lady found her she was already spayed and declawed. You may watch her 24 hours a day LIVE on her MeShare camera. She is in house 1, room 3Sponsored by Nancy - Thank you!Sponsored by Mary - Thank you!Sponsored by Jacque - Thank you!Sponsored by Sharon - Thank you!Sponsored by Bhavana - Thank you!

4/5/2020 RIPI don't even know how to start this letter. I knew it was coming some day, I didn't know today was going to be that some day. This morning Penny collapsed in front of the staff as she was being fed breakfast. I suspect she had a stroke. I rushed her to the vet and she agreed that it was time to say goodbye. I held her purring in my arms as she crossed over the rainbow bridge. Sweet Penny was a blind and deaf kitty who came to us 14 years ago. She was one of our original 12 kitties who lived in my house until we built the shelter. Being blind and deaf never slowed her down. She loved to climb to the top of all the climbers and had a disgusting habit of peeing in the empty food bowls. She would carefully position herself over the bowl, never missed or made a mess on the floor. She loved all humans. She tolerated her baths and blow drying for her overactive sebaceous glands. She was such a very special girl, I promised her a long time ago she would never lose another home, I would be there with her at the end. I kept my promise. She will be missed by all that knew her!
