Stevie
2012 Stevie & his sister Willow again show how wonderful people can be and how it sometimes takes a village to save a life. Stevie & Willow were dropped off at the Detroit Animal Control (very high kill) because their owner had been committed. The volunteers at the shelter did not want to see them die because they were blind and reached out on Facebook for help. Our fly angels, Britta and Casey flew from Dallas to Detroit to pick them up and flew them to Atlanta. In Atlanta our foster angels, Danny & Jody met them at the airport. They handed them off to Lisa, another foster angel, who drove them to us 2 weeks later. They owe their lives to this wonderful group of people who really went out of their way to save them. Once they got here we got them desperately needed dentals and had their eyes taken care of. (They had empty sockets) Stevie is very friendly, very social. Sponsored by Terri - Thank you! Sponsored by Jeff - Thank you! Sponsored by Glen - Thank you! This sponsorship made by Jake W in honor of Philip E. - Thank you! Sponsored by Dora - Thank you! Sponsored by Fiona - Thank you!

4/3/18 RIP Stevie - Today is the day we sadly knew was coming and dreaded. Sweet Stevie's health has continued to deteriorate. Cancer was completely in control now. He was continuing to lose weight (He had actually lost more than 50% of his weight) He was eating like there was no tomorrow, and then sadly was often vomiting it up and bouts of diarrhea. I have been so torn at making the decision to let him go, he was still active, still eating, I agonized over it for the last week. I had to stay true to our mission and to not let him suffer. It is strongly my philosophy that it is better to go on a good day instead of a bad day. What that means to me is we let them go a day early before they suffer than waiting until they have a horrible day and suffer. He had a good day. He ate some breakfast, the staff spent extra time visiting with him and cuddling him. Visitors spent time with him, and he had his favorite treats as we left for the vet's office. My promise to each cat is when they come to us they have a forever home and that when the end comes, I will be there with them. I kept my promise. He cuddled in my arms as he took his last breath. He was such a sweet loving cat, Everyone who knew him will miss him. I am so sorry!
