New Kitties Sasha Sasha is FELV+ and came to us from the Dillion Animal Control center. A very high kill animal shelter. She is very sweet but sure not happy with the other cats. She loved open house! If you are a sponsor that has lost one your kitties, (Jake, Cheetah, Garfield) she is looking for sponsors, please email me ( alana@blindcatrescue.com ) to switch over to her :) Or if you would like to sponsor her, her page can be found at http://blindcats.org/sasha.htm You may watch her live on http://ustream.tv.blindcatrescue on Monday’s.
Autumn has been slowly consistently losing weight, she has been to our regular vet twice in the last 2 weeks for it. She is active eating and acting pretty normal. She is going to the oncologist Tuesday 4/21 in Raleigh.
Cookie
Cookie came to us from the Dillon Animal Control Center. A very high kill animal shelter. Cookie had tested FELV+, the volunteers had told me about her when they brought me Sasha, I had told them no that time but told them to IFA test her, Ernest had just tested FIP positive, there was a possibility of an opening. The volunteers called me a week later and told me this story. Cookie had been put into a carrier (like you take your cats to the vet in)(no litter box or anything) by the Animal Control Staff (actually convicts take care of the animals from the prison) Anyway, she was put in the carrier to be taken to be euthanized. Somehow she ended up in a room with carriers and never taken. Also not fed, or anything else. She was found in that carrier on Saturday by volunteers laying in her own filth. They called and begged me to take her. After that story how on earth could I say no? She stinks to high heck. Poor thing is scared but friendly. She has had 2 baths and still stinks. Has come down with the animal control upper respiratory infection (they all do) We have her on antibiotics and she will go to the vet on Wednesday for a full physical and another bath by the groomer. She loves to be scratched above her tail, she does an immediate butt popup when you do that :) If you are a sponsor that has lost one your kitties, (Jake, Cheetah, Garfield) she is looking for sponsors, please email me ( alana@blindcatrescue.com ) to switch over to her :) Or if you would like to sponsor her, her page can be found at http://blindcats.org/cookie.htm You may watch her live on http://ustream.tv.blindcatrescue on Monday’s after she comes out of quarantine.
Toby
Toby came to us from Bladen Animal Control. I received a text from the rescue that works with the shelter with the message that he had just come into the shelter and was going to be put down in 2 hours if they could not find a rescue for him. He is blind. North Carolina law is that if an animal comes into animal control sick, injured or blind (that word is actually in there, boggles my mind) they could be immediately euthanized without a stray hold. Toby is sick with a bad upper respiratory infection and eye infection. Because he arrived late Friday afternoon we started him immediately on antibiotics for the URI and eye antibiotics for the eye infection. He is very frighten but friendly. He was taken to the vet first thing this morning for blood work etc. We were SHOCKED to find that he was actually not FIV or FELV+. Being an intact stray male, the odds were good of FIV.
This was taken Sunday, he actually looks better here than he did on Friday. If you are a sponsor that has lost one your kitties, (Jake, Cheetah, Garfield) he is looking for sponsors, please email me ( alana@blindcatrescue.com ) to switch over to him:) Or if you would like to sponsor him, his page can be found at http://blindcats.org/toby.htm You may watch her live on http://ustream.tv.blindcatrescue on Wednesdays after he comes out of quarantine.

Thank you so much to every one that donates so generously from our Amazon Wish list http://amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/14VUTQST8F5XH We are so grategful to you for your kindness! Amazon never tells us how to contact you to say thank you. They often do not put your names on the slips and occasionally there is not even a packing slip. We do post the thank yous on our Facebook page (but only 2-5% of our fans actually see them) and we post them on our blog http://blindcatrescue.blogspot.com
Hope you enjoyed :)
Regarding Feline Tooth Resorption, I am going to give you a link to the article that gives you the best information in simpler English that we can understand. http://www.mypetsdentist.com/feline-tooth-resorption.pml Questions you need to ask your vet, 1. Do you have dental x-rays? 2. Did you take more classes about dentals than the 1 hour that is offered in vet school (yes that is all they basically get in vet school, that was told me me by one of my vets. We have the cats going to a veterinary dentist now because our regular vet does not have the x-ray equipment or additional dental training. A regular vet without dental x-rays can not get an accurate look at what is going on with your cat’s mouth. Just like when YOU go to your dentist, they take X-rays to see what is going on with your teeth. (smile)
