Ginny is a sweet old broad, approx. 15 years old whose family dropped her off at the pound in Pennsylvania. The shelter had tried to find a home for her. We had listed her on Facebook and still no one would give her a home.Ginny has severe hypertension. We have her on medication nowto handle that. I suspect that may have caused her blindness. The sad thing is I told the shelter when I saw her picture that she needed to be treated for hypertension. They do not provide medicalcare like that. She also has serious kidney disease. She is a nice old lady who is adjusting. You may watchher live on Friday’s on Ustream

Why You Should Spay/Neuter your PetsOf of the most important things you can do for yourpetsisgettingthemfixed.Thatmeans sterilizing them to preventthem from having or making babies. There are many health benefits of spaying and neutering.Spayed animals no longer feel the need to roam to look for a mate.We encourage cats to remain inside but it may help them from runningthe door and have less chance of being involved in traumatic accidents such as being hit by a car. They will have a much lower chance of contracting contagious diseases and get into fewer fights. In males, neutering decreases the chances of developing prostatic disease and hernias, and eliminates the chanced of developing testicular cancer. It reduces problems with territorial and sexual aggression, inappropriate urination (spraying) and other undesirable male behaviors. In females spaying decreases the incidence of breast cancer (therate goes down to almost zero if the spaying is done before thefirst heat cycle!) It eliminates the chance of developing pyometra, aserious and potentially fatal infection of the uterus experienced by many mature unspayed animals. Spaying your female pet eliminatesthe problem of stray males camping in your yard and decreases her desire to roam and breed. Females in heat often cry incessantly, show nervous behavior.Prevent a litter - it’s good for the community!Communities spend millions of dollars to control and eliminate unwanted animals. You are helping to alleviate the dog and cat over population problem. Every year, millions of unwanted dogs and cats are killed at shelters across the county. You are saving a life! There are many low cost spay/neuter clinics all over the US. HERE is a database for ones connected with Petsmart. BUT if youwill Google the info for your location you will find more. I found thousands of pages of resources.
