Allie
12/2021 Allie is a leukemia positive cat who came to us from a shelter that was
running out of time to place her. A rescue was working with them trying to save her
but they also did not have a place for her to go. They have an adoption program
but finding a home for leukemia positive cats is not easy.
So she and her sister Laney are another quid-pro-quo situation. We trapped a feral mom
and 2 kittens from under our neighbors trailer. (They are snow birds, we saw them out playing)
Out motto is No homeless babies being born on our watch and on our property so the trap
immediately went up. They are all negative for leukemia and FIV. We were able to tame
the babies, got everyone fixed and then asked, now what. We contacted one of
the local rescues we have worked with before and they were full. (So are we, so I get it)
We are a sanctuary, we have no adoption opportunites for them.
The rescue that was trying to save Alie & Laney contacted us about us taking them,
we said we are full BUT we have 2 negatives that need a place to get into an adoption trac
we would be open to an Quid Pro Quo trade. They take mine, I take theirs. I hate
doing that (the trade thing, they are living beings) But this way 2 will move on
to homes, and 2 get saved. It was in the best interest of all 4. They had a wonderful
volunteer drive 6 ½ hours each way to bring them to us and pick up our 2.
We are trying to tame feral mom.
They are super sweet playful little girls! You can watch them Live on our cat
cameras. They are in room 4. HERE

Allie & her sister, Laney came to us 3 months ago from a rescue that had saved
them from a shelter that was running out of time to place them. She and her sister
(Laney) are super sweet babies but Leukemia positive.
We took Allie to the vet because she was not eating. Her behavior was "off".
The vet took a set of chest x-rays that told us the story very quickly. Allie had a very
large mass in her chest that was compressing her esophagus. She couldn't swallow
food. She also had fluid in other parts of her chest. This situation was not a fixable
one for her. No amount of money or medicine was going to change our outcome for
her. The vet and I agreed that the right decision for her was to let her go. I held her
in my arms as she took her last breath.
She was a fun, sweet, playful little girl and we shall miss her very much. We know
her sister will miss her very much too. It was wonderful having the time to know her,
we wish it had been much longer.
