April Kepner
10/2020 Meet April Kepner (Yes Gray’s
Anatomy fans, we are going there!) April is a
very sweet leukemia positive kitty who came to us
from animal control in Georgia. (This animal
control shelter gets 5 stars from us! They kept a
leukemia cat alive for more than a month while
working very hard to find a place for her to go and
some one to transport her. Most animal control
places would have immediately euthanized her. )
She is super sweet, likes to play and will be
going into a room once she finishes her time in
quarantine. We look forward to getting to know her

7/9/2021 RIP
Little April was put in the hospital last week for
several days with a fever of over 105. She came
home on the 4th of July still fighting the fever and
whatever this illness was. Blood work, x-rays, etc
were not giving us any hints. She had been in my
house in quarantine since she came home so I could
closely monitor her, give her medicine and fluids to
lower the fever and syringe feeding her because she
was not eating. Yesterday we had our answer as her
abdomen started swelling with fluid. It was FIP.
I was not going to have her last days of life living
in a cage so I returned her to her room yesterday
to enjoy her last days and to spend time with her
friends. She immediately found her buddy
Professor and curled up with him when she came
into the room. It was so cute and so sad! She
spent her day today with her friends, all the staff
spent extra time with her, and this afternoon she
and I made our final trip to the vet. She crossed
the rainbow bridge quietly in my arms.
She loved spring toys, she would be like a kid in
a toy store with them. She loved it when Samantha
gave her massages. She spent the last 30 minutes
of her life with me giving her a long full body
massage, I hope she enjoyed it. She was very
sweet, the staff and her cat buddies will miss her.
