Approximate Age (As of 2017): 10+ years Breed: Domestic Shorthair Status: Blind Date Arrived: 2011 Arrival Location: North Carolina For unknown reasons to us Boone ended up at Animal Control. Any animal at animal control in North Carolina that is sick or injured (which includes blindness) can immediately be euthanized. Luckily for Boone though he was so friendly they got him transferred their local Humane Society. The workers running the shelter were an amazing and dedicated group who were willing to go the extra mile to get him a home. They contacted us and drove him down to us from Boone, NC (hence his namesake). We believe he is blind from a genetic defect, otherwise his eyes are healthy and in good condition. He also has a defect with his foot that makes him walk a bit funny. We had him seen by multiple orthopedic veterinarians initially when he was not having pain with it and it was deemed unrepairable. He started having more trouble with the foot though, his foot curling, and recently had to have surgery to help with the discomfort. He still walks funny and we will continue to have to keep an eye on his foot, but his surgery was helpful and healed well.  Boone is a large fellow, but very friendly. He loves everyone, especially the other cats, and is just a huge love bug. You may watch him LIVE 24 hours a day on his MeShare Camera.  He is in house 1, room 3.
