Bowser
FeLV Positive
Gender: Male
Approximate age: 6 months (As of 2024)
Arrived From: Lincolnton, NC
Arrival Day: 2-13-24
An absolute sweetheart of a kitty, Bowser is leukemia positive and came to
us = from Lincolnton, NC. An amazing woman up there who does a lot of
incredible rescue work for cats in her area – getting them adopted into
loving homes – was brought a litter of four-week-old kittens. The one who
tested positive was Bowser and she knew she couldn’t give up on him. After
finding homes for all his siblings, it took her six months and lots of determination
to find a place for Bowser. We’re so happy to be able to give him a forever home
here at BCR and it truly warms our hearts to know that Bowser was loved and
taken care before of came to us. This wonderful woman and her husband
drove three hours to get Bowser here and he has settled in very nicely. This super
playful boy came with his toy dinosaur toy that he is obsessed with!

Dear Supporters,
It is with deep sadness that we share the news that your sweet sponsor baby,
Bowser, has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We are so, so sorry to bring you this
heartbreaking news.
Bowser went to the vet for a low-grade fever. He was eating and acting like his
usual self, which made the test results that followed so difficult to comprehend. His
bloodwork revealed that he was extremely anemic, his liver was struggling, and his
X-rays showed further concerns. Hoping there had been a mistake, we repeated the
bloodwork, but the results were the same.
There were very few options left, so our vet and I discussed supportive care. I
brought Bowser home and gave him a day filled with nothing but love. I wanted
him to try the supportive care at home rather than alone at the vet hospital. He
spent it on the catio, soaking in the fresh air, surrounded by comfort, and enjoying
all the Churu, treats, and snackies his heart desired. Though he had overcome so
many challenges, surviving FIP last year, recovering from major oral surgery, and
always bouncing back with courage, this sudden decline came sooner than we ever
expected.
When I checked on him yesterday evening, I knew in my heart it was time to let
him go with dignity and peace. Bowser crossed the bridge surrounded by love, held
close, and never alone.
Because of your sponsorship, Bowser knew what it meant to have a forever home,
full of care, comfort, and compassion. You gave him not just the gift of security, but
the chance to live fully, where all his needs were met and his days were filled with
love. For that, we are endlessly grateful.
Thank you for being a part of Bowser’s journey. His memory will live on in the
hearts of all who loved him, and especially in yours.
With heartfelt gratitude and sympathy,
Sam
