Blind Gender: Male Approximate age: 1 year and 6 months Arrived From: Elizabethtown, NC Arrival Day: March 21, 2026 Edgar’s story is one of resilience, second chances, and quiet strength. He came to us after a very difficult start in life, from an environment that lacked proper veterinary care. When he arrived, Edgar was in rough shape. He needed to be neutered, was missing over half his hair, but a healthy weight. After thorough testing, ringworm and other infectious causes were ruled out, and his hair loss was likely due to stress. Edgar came from his owner’s daughter’s household, where difficult circumstances led to State involvement. In order for his grandmother to take in her grandchildren, Edgar needed to be rehomed. This was an incredibly heartbreaking decision for her. She wanted to bring him with her, but to gain custody of her grandchildren, she was unable to keep him. Edgar is blind, and his grandmother also has vision loss in one eye, which created a deep and meaningful connection between them. She shared that Edgar had been a sickly kitten, though she was unsure if he was born that way or if it may have been the result of an untreated upper respiratory infection. She could not bear the thought of him not being given a chance. Now at Blind Cat Rescue, Edgar finally has that chance. Despite everything he has been through, he is learning what it means to feel safe, cared for, and loved. His journey is just beginning, and we are honored to be part of it.
