Gilligan
6/20/18 Gilligan is a very lucky kitty to still be alive. Turned into an open admission animal control center in SC in January as a stray. He is both FIV & Leukemia positive. The amazing shelter director refused to put him to sleep and kept him alive for 5 months! That is pretty amazing for an animal control facility!! Then she drove 2 hours to meet me 1/2 way to bring him to me and made a donation to us to care for him! He is super friendly, very happy to finally be living outside of a cage. You may watch him live on our live cameras, House 2, Room 2. Sponsored by Kathy - Thank you! Sponsored by Gayle - Thank you! Sponsored by Donald & Annie - Thank you! Sponsored by Sarah - Thank you! 5/23/2020 RIP - Gilligan came to us 2 years ago from an open admission control facility as a double positive.  Both FIV & FELV+    The director refused to kill him (which is standard protocol at a majority of animal control facilities) because he was so friendly.  She kept him alive for 5 months trying to find a place for him to go  which is just unheard of!   When he arrived, he was young and playful, we were blessed with to have good time with  him and his antics.  6 months ago,  leukemia decided to show it's head and the battle began.  Lots of med's etc trying to keep him stabilized and it worked for a few months. The last 2 months he started losing weight like crazy,  more trips to the vet to try to stop the loss, to no avail.  Once the leukemia is in control,  it is relentless.  The last 2 days he has had fevers of 106 degrees. He had lost 2 pounds in the last few weeks.    It was time to say goodbye. Gilligan went over the rainbow bridge in my arms. He was a fun friendly fellow.  He would meet you at the door in your face wanting his breakfast.  He loved to stand up and look out and talk to us in the lobby.  He loved to sit in your lap for loving.  We was a very very sweet fellow and will be missed.
