Grayson
2/19/2019 Grayson was brought into our vets office as a stray. They tested him for FELV & FIV and he was positive for both. The man who brought him in said euthanize him. My vet was horrified! This is a very friendly healthy appearing cat. They tried to talk him into letting them fix him and then him releasing him and continuing to feed him. They know that neither virus is easily spread. The man insisted the cat be euthanized. He would not take it back with him. They called me and asked if we could take him. If not they were going to be forced to euthanize this cat. What else could I say? He is a very very friendly cat. He is very anemic. I suspect from fleas and lack of good quality food. This fellow sure likes to eat :) I think he is enjoying being warm and dry. I think he will fit in with the other kitties when he goes into a room. Sponsored by Laurie - Thank you! 3/16/2019 RIP Grayson We took him to the vet yesterday because he obviously did not feel good. We took his temperature and he was running a fever. The vets pulled blood work, did x-rays and an ultrasound. The vet said his kidneys were huge and strongly felt that we were dealing with lymphoma. We decided to wait until to today to see the more comprehensive blood work we sent out before we made any decisions. Grayson made the decision for us. This morning he went into respiratory distress, was cold, gray, limp. The vet called me, explained what was going on and I told her to kiss him goodbye for me, tell him we love him and help him over the rainbow bridge. I was not going to make him suffer for 20 minutes for me to get there for me to be with him, (And I doubt he would have lived survived that long) I just saw the blood work had come up and he was more anemic than he was at the first, the leukemia won. He was such a nice fellow that sadly had a really bad life. We were blessed to have known him for a month and for him to get to know what it was like to sleep on a warm bed, be fed, and loved. No longer living as an unwanted stray.. He will be missed.
Grayson
2/2019 Grayson was brought into our vets office as a stray. When he was snap tested he was found to be a double positive. The finder/owner said we do not want him euthanize him. Our vet tried talking some sense into him and go no where, he insisted that the cat be killed. They called us and asked us to please take this fellow. He is a super nice cat and deserves to not be killed. The owner agreed to sign him over to the vet and walked away. This sweet fellow has no idea how close he came to the needle. He has been on the streets, is very anemic we are hoping from fleas, we are hoping with good food and time he will get a period of time of good health. He sure is a nice fellow, some one has loved this guy at some point in his life. Sponsored by Sherri - Thank you! Sponsored by Laurie - Thank you! Sponsored by Susan - Thank you!
