All healed and good as new!
FeLV+ Gender: Male Approximate age: Arrived From: Miami, Florida Arrival Day: February 2023 Houdini is a very lucky boy and has a group of very wonderful angels to thank for saving his life. He was a community cat in a colony that was managed by a caretaker. He had been through TNR so was neutered and micro-chipped. One day, Houdini was hit by a car and sustained serious injuries. Thanks to the micro-chip, animal control was able to contact the small rescue in Miami that his colony is affiliated with. Animal control gave them only a few hours to pick up Houdini or they’d euthanize him. They got him out of animal control and immediately began to raise the more than $2,000 necessary to cover the surgery he needed, which was extensive. He had a broken back leg and a front leg so badly damaged that it needed to be amputated. A BCR supporter from Miami let us know about Houdini and the wonderful people trying to help him. We helped cover his surgery and offered him a forever home since, as an FeLV+ cat, Houdini would have had a hard time finding a loving home. Our flying angel (who is a flight attendant) flew him to North Carolina, where we picked him up. When he arrived at BCR he was still recovering. Since then he has completely healed and, despite his painful past, is one very loving kitty! He loves to be on his catio and manages to get himself into positions that one would think couldn’t possibly be comfortable but don’t seem to bother this lanky big boy. He is very playful and loves his daily lobby adventures! You can see Houdini 24 hours a day on our live cameras he is house 2, Room 1.
