All grown up!
Gender: Male Approximate age: 2 years (as of 2025) Arrived From: Greenville, North Carolina Arrival Day: September 2023 Lime and his two siblings came to us from Eastern NC and all three are FeLV+. A community cat colony was working on TNR and took in a litter of fluffy orange kittens. When three tested positive, she knew they couldn’t go back to the colony and that they needed a safe forever home. This amazing woman got all three kittens fixed and up to date on their shots and even nursed them back to health from an upper respiratory infection they all had. Then, she and her friend then drove a little over two hours to get all three babies to us. We are very happy that we were able to take them in and, in return, make more space for her to continue fostering. Lime is a little less shy than his sister Lemon. He and his brother, Orange, love to run chase each other up and down the kurandas and to play with their toys!
12/26/2024 Dear Supporters, It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of Lime's passing. We noticed that Lime wasn't eating his dinner yesterday, so we checked his temperature and found he had a low-grade fever. His gums appeared pale, which prompted a trip to the vet. There, we learned that Lime was very anemic. After running additional tests, we discovered he was suffering from DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation). This serious condition caused widespread clotting throughout his body, which ultimately proved to be too much for him to handle. Lime, a sweet FeLV+ cat, arrived with his siblings, Orange and Lemon, and quickly became a beloved member of the "Citrus Gang." These three orange cats filled our days with joy, as their playful antics and endless curiosity kept us on our toes. True to orange cats' spirited nature, Lime ensured there was never a dull moment. Outgoing and confident, he played a special role in boosting the confidence of his shyer sister, Lemon. Lime brought an abundance of life and laughter to their room. We are heartbroken by his passing and are so grateful for the love and care you all provided during Lime’s time with us. While his life was brief, his spirit and playfulness brought joy to all who knew him. Thank you for being a part of Lime’s journey, and for supporting his care, even in the hardest of times. His memory will live on in our hearts. With my deepest apology, Sam
