Marshmallow
11/2019 Marshmallow was represented to us as a senior blind kitty that was going to be euthanized in the Charlotte Animal Control Center. He had been turned into animal control as a stray so matted that they had to shave him. When he arrived here we had them finish getting him shaved so he was more comfortable. He also had a mouth of rotted teeth and pneumonia and had not been neutered. We have spent the last month trying to get him healthy enough to finally get fixed and his dental done. He ended up with almost a full mouth extraction. His mouth was in such horrible shape, even with the pain meds we were giving him, he had to be in horrible pain. Once he has healed and stopped producing the testosterone odor in his urine he hope to be able to put him in a room. We hope he likes other cats. Update: He has moved into his room. He at first disliked the other cats but now is adjusting and has made a few friends. You may watch him live on his live camera HERE, he is room 7.

11/3/2022 RIP Marshmallow This is a very surprising letter to be writing.  Marshmallow passed away this morning in his sleep on a soft comfortable bed. He went the way we would all want to go, he just went to sleep and did not wake up. Very peacefully. He had been struggling with his health.  He had a CT last week and a rhinoscopy on Tuesday because they had found a mass with the CT.  A biopsy was taken.  We do not have results from that.  We are having a necropsy done to see what he was really dealing with.   He did not act like he was feeling bad.  He had been out in the lobby yesterday for his spa day.  Got his bottom shaved, a bath, and his nails done and had lots of attention.  He was up and active last night when I was with him.  So we aren't sure why he did not wake up this morning. When he arrived 3 years ago from animal control he was in terrible shape.  He had been so matted they had to partially shave him just so he could walk.  We completely shaved him and got him some relief.  He had a mouth full of rotten teeth, and pneumonia. He hated other cats and was not terribly fond of us either.  He did not feel good,  had had a horrible life and had zero reasons to like any of us and he was not fixed.  Once he was healthy and found that he was being loved and cared he became a very sweet loving cat.  Later he developed diabetes and was an angel every day having his blood sugar checked and his twice-daily shots.  He loved Izzy and you would often find them cuddling together.   We were blessed to have known him for 3 years and to have given him a good life for his final years.  Your support and love gave him that miracle. He will be missed.
