Megan
11/18 Meghan was rescued by a kind man when she was trying
to escape a dog. He took her to his vet and was going to try
to help her find a home. Then she tested Leukemia positive.
With the help of several people, she got to ride in first class
with Davica and was flown to BCR. She is a very nice girl,
who loves to play.

Dear Supporters,
It is with a very heavy heart that we share with you all that
our sweet Meghan has passed over the rainbow bridge. We
noticed that she was reluctant to eat this past Sunday and
due to her licking her lips, we thought it was maybe nausea.
So we gave her some medication to help with that and also
a little bit of pain medication just in case her stomach was
upset. The next day, she seemed slightly better and even
jumped down for breakfast. When staff noticed her hiding
in the corner on the very top of a kuranda looking as if she
was head pressing, we checked her out and tried getting her
to walk around. Meghan was wobbly in her back legs and
even had trouble jumping onto a kuranda. We immediately
took her to the vet where she has stayed since then.
Our vet did in house blood work and it revealed that her
kidneys were angry. She was immediately put on IV fluids,
antibiotics, and other medication. On Tuesday she
brightened up and was no longer wobbly. The new blood
work showed that her kidney values were even worse
despite her perking up. The vet and I wanted 72 hours of
antibiotics and support to be in her system before any
decisions were made. On Wednesday, she had an ultrasound
done but there were no masses. UA was also given and
findings showed her kidneys are no longer filtering. This
morning we ran blood work again.. She is now severely
anemic and her kidneys are shutting down. We were
fighting for her as hard as we could because she had a
fighting spirit. She showed great strength but today was the
day. Even though she seemed better her body was failing
her her fast. I held her as she crossed the rainbow bridge in
peace while she could still hold her head up to receive chin
scratches and enjoy the comfort of a lap.
Meghan came to us back in November of 2018 after a kind
man rescued her from a dog and was even flown first class
to us. Since then, she has known nothing but love and the
most amazing support from you guys and the BCR
community. Having leukemia, we were prepared to have a
shorter amount of time with her. Nonetheless, Meghan lived
out her time with us and made us smile every day. Meghan
loved her meal times. If another cat was eating from a bowl
that she wanted, she would sneakily grab the bowl and pull
it closer to her with her paw. Meghan also loved anything
cheesy. Whenever we would have pizza parties, Meghan
always needed a small piece of pizza. Butt scratches were
her favorite as well as cuddling with her roomies. Chester
was one of her favorites to cuddle with and after he passed,
she would often cuddle with Peanut and Orange. Meghan
and Chester will no doubt be reuniting for a cuddling
session. Meghan will truly be missed dearly by all who got
to know her. We can all find great peace in knowing that she
was loved and had a safe place to call home until it was her
time to pass over the rainbow bridge.
I am so sorry,
Sam
