ODIE
6/2017 Odie came to us from Florida and is FELV+. He followed a volunteer for the
Cat Network, who was out for a walk, home. He sat outside the front door crying until
the volunteer gave him some food and hoped he would go on back to where he belongs.
He continued sitting there meowing for help until they brought him inside. He was very
sweet, gave kisses and head bonks, was obviously happy that he was getting off the street.
The next day he was talked to the vet for shots etc to start the process to get him adopted.
Sadly he came back FELV+ They had no resources for anyone wanting to adopt a FELV+
kitty. They needed a place for him to go.
With some help of an angel who works for the airline he was flown, first class, to Raleigh.
(thank you Davica!) He was handed off to another angel (thank you Thorn) who drove him
down from Raleigh to us.
He is very sweet, is in good health right now, is still a bit freaked out at all the changes
in his life. He is very friendly, seems to be OK with the other cats.

3/31/2020 RIP Odie
Odie was found on the streets in Florida literally walking up to a volunteer for a small rescue begging for help. They were
going to give him a home until he tested leukemia positive. He was a super friendly kitty and they were determined to find
him a safe place to be. Odie arrived at BCR in June 2017 with the help of our fly angel Davica, and ground angel Thorn.
Odie is an interesting character, very interesting looking. Not sure what his breed was, but we knew he was a friendly fellow
who liked to purr and play. He started struggling with his health last year, with 9 vet visits in the last 9 months. He also
had an ultrasound. His ultrasound told us that he had lymphoma and we knew that his time was going to be coming to an end
sooner than later. We tried chemo meds to try to hold it off but he kept losing weight. He was eating, the cancer was
winning. This morning he clearly said he was done. He was not eating, he was not getting up out of his bed, he couldn't even
be tempted with treats. He and I made our last trip to the vet when he crossed over the rainbow bridge in my arms purring
to the end.
Odie was a super friendly cat with a very loud purr. He loved humans, laying in crazy positions, playing with toys and cuddling with Bear.
He will be missed by all of us. We were blessed to have been able to give him almost 3 years.
