Tommy
5/2023 Sweet Tommy is a senior (approx 11 years old) Blind Kitty who was rescued from animal control in Florida. With the help of a rescue and a wonderful transporter he arrived at BCR a few days later. It is very dangerous to be in animal control in Florida, they are fast kill down there. He has hypertension, (which I am pretty sure took his sight.) He also has kidney disease, heart disease and is very hard of hearing. He is a very sweet kitty who is adjusting to his new reality. We think becoming blind is new for him.

It is with great sadness that we inform you all that our sweet loving boy, Tommy, has passed over the rainbow bridge. This morning he was found to have passed very peacefully in his beloved plastic egg bed. After checking the cameras and seeing him walking around and having his early morning water and dry food break, he went back out to his catio to take a nap in his egg and peacefully passed away in his sleep. Only Tommy truly knows how old he was and all that he went through in his life before ending up at animal control in Florida and eventually to his forever home here with us. Coming to us with severe kidney and heart disease due to untreated hypertension, we knew we were going to be end-of-life care for this guy. Tommy was absolutely in love with his egg. We even had to add a second one to the room. He also really enjoyed churu treats. The combo of laying in his egg and having a churu treat served to him at the same time was pure bliss for him. On top of being the most outdoorsy guy, he truly was a sweet cat who enjoyed being brushed and scratched. We cannot thank you all enough for your love and support in making it possible for us to show Tommy what a true loving home has been like for the last five months. The endless churu, a safe space for him to lounge on his catio, and loving care, it is truly all thanks to you. I am sorry
