Winston
6/2023 Winston a very old fellow - he has 2 teeth! He has severe cateracts and is blind. He also has heart disease and kidney disease. He test positive for both FIV & FELV. He also has hyperthryoid and anemia. We aren’t sure if that is from the leukemia or if it is from the fleas. He is being treated for it. We will redo blood work in 30 days to see if his treatments have helped get things under control. Regardless, we accept we are hospice for him. He is a very sweet friendly fellow who is curious about everything. It is hard to get a picture because he just keeps checking things out. He was found wandering in someone’s yard. Our spay/neuter vet took him in and put on facebook that she was looking for a home for him. That is how he came to us. He is a super friendly fellow.

10/26/23 Our deepest condolences to inform everyone that Winston has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. When he first arrived we weren’t expecting him to be here for more than a month or two. He was extremely both hyperthyroid and anemic, severely underweight, had kidney/heart disease and his FELV Quantum was over 7,000. We have never seen numbers that high before. We thought 400 was high. A quantum lets us know the viral load in their system. Winston was known to be a very hefty eater he could have easily won a cat- eating contest! His appetite started to change over the weekend, however. He was still acting as himself but he did lose some weight so he went to the vet on Wednesday. This morning his blood work came through and his anemia that was once improved has now dramatically worsened. He was bleeding internally somewhere. Alana and I looked at his gum and ears and they were pale white. HE refused breakfast. The vet and I agreed that there wasn’t much more we could do for him that we hadn't already done. He was in pain and couldn’t do what he enjoyed most, eating. It was time to let him go. Winston came to us in June. He was found wandering in someone’s yard. Our spay/neuter vet took him in and put him on Facebook that she was looking for a home for him. That is how he came to us. He beat the odds and was able to have a few more months of comfort, buffets, and all the chin scratches he desired. We will miss him expecting to be the first to be served first at each meal. His purrs and chirps let us know how happy he truly was. Thank you for providing him with the best quality of life for dear Winston. Our efforts would not be possible without it. Sam
