Lilo
4/23 Lilo is a leukemia positive kitty who came to us from a local shelter. She
has been living in a cage for almost a year and had zero opportunity for adoption.
They knew that was no way to live. We had another cat dumped on the property
that was very sweet and a seeing, negative kitty so they took that one to find him
a home and we took Lilo.
She is very friendly and sweet. She is enjoying being free of the cage!

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our sweet Lilo has passed over
the rainbow bridge. She had started losing weight about a month ago so we took her
in to the vet and her blood work was beautiful. We got her an ultrasound scheduled
for October 10th to see if there were any masses. We then found the culprit, she had
"small ill-defined mass effects" in both of her kidneys. Meaning we were dealing with
lymphoma. The vet and ultrasound technician believed it was worth a try to start her
on some medication to help battle the masses and give her some more time. We
gave our sweet girl a couple weeks on the new medication, but it was time. She was
dropping even lower in weight and wasn't moving around being her bubbly self any
longer. It was time to let her go.
Lilo came to us back in April from a local shelter after she had been living in a cage
for about a year. Being leukemia positive, they did not want her interacting with the
other cats and were only able to provide her with a very small space to live. When
the opportunity came for us to take her, we were thrilled that we could provide her
with the best life possible. She had all the room she could ever need to run and play.
She absolutely loved her catio and napping out there on the kurandas was heaven
to her. We cannot thank you all enough for your love and support in making it
possible for us to show Lilo what a loving home and community we have here at
BCR.
I am very sorry,
Alyson
