Bubblegum

11/2020 Bubblegum arrived from an open admission shelter in Asheville NC. They pride themselves on doing everything possible to find a safe placement for every animal. She was leukemia positive and had a mass in her mouth. One of their employees was coming to Charlotte to visit family for Halloween. We put a call out for help to Elaine who lives 20 minutes from there and she meet the cat and drove 3 hours each way to bring her to us! Elaine, you rock! Bubblegum is the sweetest kitty with the most adorable chirping purr. She also has the softest fur! We are so glad to have the opportunity to get to know her. Sponsored by Melissa - Thank you! Sponsored by Celeste - Thank you! Sponsored by Karen - Thank you! Sponsored by Elizabeth - Thank you! 11/10/2020 RIP This is a very sad letter to be writing so soon. Little Bubblegum arrived 2 weeks ago after sitting in a cage at a humane society for a month.  She was FELV+  and had a mass in her mouth.  When she arrived she went to our vet for a checkup and an appointment was made to remove the mass.  It was large and on her tongue.  There was a 2nd mass in her nostril.  Her overall health was good so we fast-tracked her into her room.  She played, ran, and enjoyed being out of a cage. She was happy, eating, and playing.    Yesterday was her appointment for a dental and to remove and biopsy the mass.   With every surgery, there is a risk of complications.  We had done all pre-blood work and the vet felt it would be ok.  They were able to remove the masses but towards the end of the surgery, she started crashing.  They pushed fluids, meds, etc etc etc.  for over 40 minutes they tried to get her stabilized but sadly,  she died.    She was a sweet loving kitty that we are glad we were able to give her 2 weeks of happiness and love.  We are heartbroken and I will have to deal with the guilt that I made her have the surgery.
