Cooper
7/2018 Cooper was rescued from a trailer park in the Miami area with many other cats. As you can see by his ears, he has had a rough life. He was rescued in horrible condition. The rescuer spent a lot of time and money getting him into decent condition. The down side is he is a double positive. Positive for both Leukemia and FIV. The rescuer actually found a home for this fellow. That placement fell apart after a few months. Who knows how many homes this poor guy has had. She put a call out on the Internet and asked if we could help. That is how he came to us. She knows several flight attendants who are absolute angels that fly animals for free inside the planes with them on their days off. So he got to fly to us first class on American. Thorn, who is an angel who lives in Raleigh volunteered to meet the plane and drive him 110 miles to us. That is a 220 miles round trip! This is a very sweet fellow who we hope gets to have years of life with us. He loves to give head bonks and cat nip toys.
In his carrier on the plane
On the road for the lat leg of the trip.

11/8/2018 This is a letter I knew I would have to write someday and am so saddened that I have to write it today. We took Cooper (FIV+ and Leukemia positive) to the vet several days ago because he appeared to be having labored breathing. Lots of tests and a night in the hospital the vet found a tumor in his lungs. We choose to bring him home for a day or 2 of loving, he was not telling us that he was ready and the vet gave him some medicine to help make him more comfortable. We knew we would only have 1 or 2 days more but everyone wanted to spend more time loving him and saying goodbye. Today was clearly the day, I held him in my arms as he took his last breath. Cooper had a rough life before he came to us. He had been living outside trying to survive in a trailer park with many other homeless cats. Sadly he was only with us for a few months but in those months he knew what it was to be loved and cared for. He liked having a soft bed, catnip, roof over his head and food in his belly. He touched the heart of so many and will be very missed. I am so sorry Alana
Finally a soft bed and food after a long day.
