Jan 2019 Sweet Daisy Mae is a leukemia positive - 3 legged kitty. She was taken into a vets office after being caught in what we are guessing a leg trap. According to the records her leg was badly damaged and had to be removed. The owners were apparently found and they signed the cat over to the vet. Bless this vet, she is a leukemia positive cat and yet she did not just euthanize her as many vets would have. Instead she did the surgery and worked hard to find a place for her to go. She had waited living in a cage for months until we agreed to take her in and give her a forever home. Daisy is very sweet, still a little scared but likes other cats. She has hit it off with Journey. You may watch her live on her Live Camera - House 2, Room 2.

2/16/2021 Sweet Daisy Mae came to us as a leukemia-positive kitty who had been living in a cage at a doctor's office. She had been turned into the vet's office with her leg badly damaged. The vet removed her leg and after she healed they went to work trying to find a place for her to go. We took her to the vet today because she had started losing weight at an alarming rate and had stopped eating. The x-rays and ultrasound showed she had a large mass in her intestines. The vet and I discussed rather it could it be surgically removed. Because of where it was and the structures involved, it could not. We are 100% about quality of life and providing dignity at the end. We believe in letting them go on a good day, instead of a bad day when they are suffering. Today was her good day. I sat and held her for some time while we waited for the vet. She was purring in my lap and fell asleep. The vet came in and she quietly went over the rainbow bridge. Daisy was a sweet sweet cat who showed that 3 legged does not make you "special needs". We will miss her zoomies in the morning. She loved belly rubs. We were blessed to have been able to give her 2 years, she will be missed.
