Dominic
12/21/2017 Dominic arrived from the Dominican Republic. A lady from the UK was on holiday in the Dominican Republic. She found a blind kitty living on the beach. She fed him every day for almost a week. She took him to a rescue in the DR . They began treating his eyes etc. He was frightened and not a very nice cat and were going was going to euthanize him. The lady plead for time to find a place for him to go. Sending him to the UK with their quarantine rules was too complicated but he could be sent to the US. She agreed to pay all of his expenses to send him to us. He has just arrived after 2 days in a cage on planes and is very stressed out. He has now been to our vet and will be going back next week to be neutered. We are treating his eye infection which I am sure is causing him pain. He has also tested FELV+ Right now he is a handful. Update: He is becoming much friendlier (until we try to give him medicine). Sponsored with love from Baby Alice & the CatsAyala Clowder in celebration of Black Cats every where! - Thank you! Him with his savior in the DR
3/15/18 We took Dominic to the vet 2 weeks ago because he was losing weight and not acting like himself. His blood work and exam was hinting FIP but was not confirmed yet. Today it showed itself. His abdominal was full of fluid. The vet tapped it and there was no question that it was FIP. His blood confirmed it. FIP is 100% fatal, there is no cure. It was time to let him go. The poor little fellow had such a bad set of cards dealt to him. We are blessed to have had the opportunity to show him what it is like to have a loving home, with soft beds and plenty of food. He will be missed.
