4/18 Gaston came to us after he was rescued from animal control in Gastonia, NC.He owes his life to a wonderful lady name Thorn (who has transported several othercats to us). Thorn went way beyond the call of duty to get him rescued, a temporaryplace to stay, vet verification and then transported to us. Gaston was on the euthanasia list, Thorn got him a 1 day reprieve. That is how close he came to death.Gaston is leukemia positive. He is also the sweetest fellow you have ever met.He loves humans and other cats and is adjusting well. You may watch him live on his MeShare camera. He is in building 2, room 1.Sponsored by Barbara - Thank you!Sponsored by Dora - Thank you!Sponsored by Paul - Thank you!Sponsored by Rebecca - Thank you!Sponsored by Angelica - Thank you!Sponsored by Thorn - Thank you!!
4/22/2019 RIP GastonThis is not a letter I was expecting to have to write today. The staff alerted me that Gaston was not acting right and did not eat breakfast. I took a look at him and you could see he was doing some serious labored breathing. Off to the vet we immediately go.The vet did an ultrasound and X-ray. I have never seen such a crazy looking x-ray in my life! He had some kind of mass wrapped around his heart. He had x-rays on 3/30 because he had lost some weight. It was not visible then so this was a very fast growing tumor. Being leukemia positive, we knew that there was nothing we could do to possibly fix this. I held him in my arms as he crossed the rainbow bridge. He was his sweet purring self to the very end. Gaston was the sweetest cat you have ever met, he loved humans and you were guaranteed him in your lap if you sat down. Such a wonderful fellow. We were blessed to have had a year with him. Thank you Thorn (also one of his sponsors) for really going out of your way to save this fellow. We will miss him very much.
