Happy
1/2015 Happy was found at the feral colony that we feed. She was very sick and needed help. She is FIV+ very anemic, has a mouth infection all the way to the bone, worms, etc. We got her immediate medical help and right now she is on 3 antibiotics. Even with all that has happened to her, she is a very happy kitty :) That is how she got the name Happy. When we found her the temperatures were dropping to the low teens at night. She would not have survived much longer. She was also orange. We are guessing from trying to get under leaves to stay warmer? Only she knows. She will be moving into the FIV room when she is spayed and healthy. . (She was also pregnant we discovered when spaying her) 12/12 /15 We took Happy to the vet because she was obviously not feeling well. Her blood work showed she had something really bad going on. On Monday our vet called and said she needs to go to Raleigh, she needs a critical care facility. She had been spiking a fever all weekend but now it is 106. Off to Raleigh we went. They ran lots of tests, she was severely anemic, platelets were 7 (should be 15+) and she was now testing FELV+. After lots of talking about options we made the very painful decision to let her go. More testing etc was not going to change the ultimate out come. We were blessed to have given her a year of quality of life. When she appeared she was so sick and would have frozen to death, she had a year of being warm, loved and fed. I know her buddy Colonel will miss her.
