Jackson Avery
11/2020 Jackson Avery (Yes Gray’s Anatomy fans, we are going there) is a sweet leukemia positive kitty who came to us with his siblings from an animal control facility. They had reached the end of time they would be allowed to be adopted and were scheduled to be euthanized. He is a very sweet fellow who is very shy. We think he will come around once he gets over the stress of another change in his life. You may watch him on his live camera here. He is in Room 6

7/14/2022 Sweet Jackson came to us in Nov 2020 with his brother Richard.  They were leukemia positive.Sadly we lost Richard to cancer a few months after the arrived.  They came from an animal control facility that had them on the to-be euthanized list, they could not be adopted out, they were rescue only.  Sadly there are not lots of leukemia rescues out there. Jackson was the sicker of the 2 when they arrived but his immune system rallied and he was doing well for some time.  We started him also on Retromad1 which is a medicine for FELV.   I am still not sure if it actually makes a difference or not.   In the last month or 2 he struggled with his health.  He had developed severe pancreatitis, lost a lot of weight, was on so many medications,  had ultrasounds, xrays,  fevers.  And his quantum PCR tests showed very high levels of leukemia.  (this test how much leukemia is active in their blood).  Today he clearly showed he had enough,  he was exhausted, his eyes dull. It was time to let him go.   He and I made our last trip together to the vet.  He died quietly and peacefully in my arms as the vet helped him over the rainbow bridge. He was an amazing sweet fellow who liked everyone.  He was very playful during his healthy time, and loved sitting in our laps and being loved on.  He was so grateful to all of you that your support helped make it possible for him to have a life.
