Karev
2/2021 Karev (yes Gray’s Anatomy fans, like in Alex Karev) is a FIV+ blind kitty who came to us locally. Owner was allergic. He was blind, living outside, and had not been fixed. He is absolutely terrified to move. He is friendly, He likes to have his head scratched. We know once he realizes he is safe he will warm up. He is approx 3 years old and not neutered. He is at the vet getting all of his medical needs taken care of. He is now fixed and we hope in a few weeks when the testosterone smell is gone from his urine, to get him moved into a room. I think he will do much better with other cats. You may watch him live on his cat camera - He is in Room 1 Update - He has calmed down, likes other cats and is becoming much friendlier to the humans. 9/2021 He has been diagnosed with small cell lymphoma and started on chemo medications.

9/10/2022  This is a letter that I am very surprised to be writing this morning.    This morning at 4 am when I went in to give the early morning medications I found Karev in obvious distress.  I suspected a stroke.  I immediately called the vet and asked her to meet me at the clinic,  ran in the house and threw on some clothes and rushed him to the vets office where we euthanized him.  Looking back on the security tapes, it looks like he had a saddle thrombosis (a bad clot)  We are having a necropsy done to see what actually happened. What was weird was he had been acting "off" the afternoon before.  We took him to the vet and did blood work and x-rays and everything was within normal levels. Karev had had so many medical problems and had been to the vet so many times. We finally figured out his dental issues and he was doing so much better. Karev was a friendly fellow, we will miss him.
