Lexi
5/2020 Lexi is a very senior cat who arrived from animal control weighing 3 ½ pounds. Below is her actual pound post after we agreed to take her. Bless them for helping her. NC law states she should have been immediately euthanized.
We took her straight from the transporter into a crate in my car and straight to the vet. She is very anemic (probably from the fleas she was covered in) has serious kidney disease and heart disease. She spent a night in the hospital and the next day we brought her home with a plan. She is eating and has gained almost a pound in the last 5 days. She is the nicest cat, we are so happy to be able to help her. We hope we can get her healthy enough to let her see what good life can feel like. Who knows how long she has been living on the streets.

8/19/2020 RIP Lexi Lexi came to us as a very senior cat weighing 3 1/2 pounds from animal control. When she arrived she was severely anemic, kidney disease, and severe heart disease.  We knew that we were going to be hospice for her. She desperately needed a dental but would have died on the table.  We hoped we could have a lot more time but knew that was probably not going to be a reality.   She gained some weight but never enough.  She had some happy time. She loved to lay outside in the garden and quickly figured out how to go out the cat door. She loved to be held and would purr in your arms.   Last night when I came into the building to take care of the diabetics and do final meds I brought her inside from the garden for our nightly dance and to give her a bowl of food to make sure she ate supper.   When I put her down she took 2 steps and fell over unable to stand.  I picked her up and had her try again to stand.  She fell over.  I immediately called the vet and said I was on my way.  After examining her the vet and I agreed that it was time to let her go.  She had been happy and well cared for for the final months of her life.  We are so grateful we had the opportunity to know her. She was very sweet and loving and we will greatly miss her.
