Shadow
11/2019 Shadow is leukemia and FIV positive. He was trapped in what was supposed to be a TNR situation. The rescue that was doing the spay/neuters held onto him because he had some wounds. They did not want to return him to his colony until he had healed. They realized what a friendly kitty he was and did a combo test before trying to find a home for him. To their sadness they found that he was a double positive. They couldn’t return him to his colony and they couldn’t find a home for him. They reached out to us. This fellow is the nicest cat! You sit down and he is immediately in your lap. He is a real love bug! You may watch him live on his cat camera - He is in house 2, Room 1.

4/19/2021 RIP Shadow Shadow is a double positive kitty (FIV & FELV+) who came to from a TNR situation. The rescue did not feel it would be appropriate to put him back in his colony. He was also very very friendly but they could not find anyone wanting to adopt him. So he came to be with us 17 months ago. Shadow is a talker, he would stand at the door every morning and nag you to death to feed him. If you are working in the lobby he would often talk to you, wanting you to come in and play. If you sat down in his room, he would immediately jump in your lap. A few months ago Shadow started having medical problems and the constant trips to the vet began. Cancer was in charge. His weight started dropping even though he was eating, which is typical of cancer victims. More trips to the vet, we knew our time was coming to an end with him. This week he lost over 1 pound, even though he was still eating. Today he refused to eat, we could not find anything to tempt him. Appetite stimulants etc did not work. He was clearly saying today is the day. He and I made our last trip to the vet and I held him in my arms purring as he went over the rainbow bridge. He was a fun friendly fellow who kept us entertained. He always had something to say about everything. He will be missed.
