Tony
5/2022 Tony is a FIV/FELV+ kitty who came to us from a rescue in Tennessee. The rescues board was pushing to euthanize him because they felt they had exhausted all options for him. (They had not) Thankfully for Tony the president of the rescue does not agree with her board and got involved. She contacted us, drove him to us from Tennessee and made a donation to help with his care. He is very friendly to humans, he is not so sure about the cats.

7/28/2022 We took Tony to the vet Monday running a fever of 104.6   He was of course hospitalized.  Blood work was done,  fluids, antibiotics, x-rays etc.  Blood work said something bad was going on with infection or inflammatory response,  his liver values were really funky,  but we still were not sure exactly what we were fighting with,  it was not showing its hand yet.   No matter what the vet did we could not keep the fever down.  She could give keto and it would go down for 6 hours or so and then right back to 105.   Yesterday it showed us what it was.  He had a belly full of straw color fluid.  It was positive for the Rivalta test.   This is either FIP or Liver cancer.   We know there is a medication being used out there that claims to cure FIP.  It is not FDA approved in the US, it is brought in from China.  It is also very painful and the cats must endure 84 days of shots.  Some people have had good success,  more have had their cats suffer and die anyway.  Tony was a double positive,  he was both FIV and Leukemia positive.  The vet and I both felt letting him go was the right thing.   It was not going to change our final outcome,  leukemia will always win in the end. He was a fun friendly little fellow. He would stand at his door every morning and yell at the staff to hurry up and feed me.  He loved to play with toys and sit in your lap.
