Voldo
12/2018 Voldo is a 10 year old kitty who had been living in his forever home. Until the husband became very sick with asthma caused by the cats. He was rehomed with family in hopes of keeping him with people he knew. The person who took him was not taking care of him so the owner had to rehome him again. She talked to the local animal shelter and they stressed to her that if he came in there the odds were very high he would never leave alive. They were at double capacity and he would have little time to find a home. Desperately she wrote us asking us to give him a home. She drove almost 9 hours one way to bring him to us. He is a super friendly fellow who will be heading into his room soon. Update, he is a friendly little fellow and likes other cats. You may watch him on his live camera HERE. He is in House 1, room 3
6/27/2023 Sweet Voldo came to us 5 years ago after losing his second home because of allergies.   He was a senior blind kitty and the owner was told he would be euthanized if he came into their shelter, they were at double capacity.   Over the years he has developed typical senior kitty (and human) illnesses.  He had severe heart disease and was on many of the typical heart medications that humans are on including Lasix.  He was also getting cold laser treatment for his severe spinal spondylosis and arthritis.  But he was still a happy fellow who loved attention and his heart condition was being managed decently.  Until today.  He was not doing well and we took him to the vet.  He was in full heart failure now.  His abdomen and chest were full of fluid.  I had 2 choices,  start poking him with lots of needles, try to reduce the fluids and no guarantees that the outcome was going to change,  or let him go.  I chose to not let him suffer and let him go.  I truly feel that was the right choice. Voldo loved shredded chicken and every day would holler to come into the lobby for his treat.  After he ate it he would happily go back into his room.  He loved to cuddle with the other kitties. Now he has joined Natasha and Yoshi for cuddles at the rainbow bridge.  Voldo lived 1/3 of his lifetime with us being loved and cared for.  You gave him that gift.  We thank you so much and we will all miss him very much.
