MEET ABBY
I get asked often who is our oldest cat.
Abby, to the
best of our knowledge 17 years old. We were notified by one of the local animal controlfacilities that she had been surrendered by her owner. In NC an owner surrender can be euthanized immediately. The pound was full and she was very lucky that they had heard of usand were willing to make a phone call to try to help her.According to her paper work filled out by the owners, she was14 years old, and they were not allowed to have cats wherethe lived. When she arrived she had a hole where 1 eye was supposed to beand the existing eye was a hard glaucoma eye. We had hereeyes taken care of and was given a much needed dental. She was also devastated at losing her only home. People do notget it! If YOU lost your home, your family, everything and everyonethat you knew you would crawl into a hole some where. But you would be able to understand the WHY, the cats do not understandwhy their family and whole world disappeared. She went into a deep depression. We had a feeding tube placedto give her a chance to realize that her new reality was going to work out.
Picture of her after eye surgery. The video is of her finallystarting to eat!
Abby LOVES catnip. Goes crazy for it. Here is a cutevideo of her with a catnip toy.
You may watch her live on http://ustream.tv/blindcatrescue &ROKU on Tuesday’s.
