Mack
2011 Big Mack is a super sweet fellow who is FIV+ He was rescued from the streets, and when the rescue combo tested him they were horrified to see that he was FELV+ & FIV+. Later we did more accurate tests and he is in fact only FIV+. Being a small group with no adoption opportunities for him, and all their foster homes full, they made an appointment to euthanize him. One of their members knew about our new building and contacted us to see if we could take him. He owns his life to that volunteer, had she not contacted us and had we not had room he would have lost his life. This is a super sweet fellow who gives head bumps and loves to be loved on. We are happy to have him. Update: 2019 Big Mack is much older and starting to show his age. He developed hyper thyroid a few years ago and received radiation therapy to cure it. He has the cutest chirp and loves to sit in your lap and have his belly rubbed. We love this big fellow and hope we have many more years with him. Sponsored by Renee - Thank you! 5/12/2020 RIP Mack Sweet Mack was our very first FIV+ kitty.  He came to us from a rescue who had made an appointment to euthanize him just because he was FIV+.  One of their volunteers heard we were building a new building for FIV & FELV+ cats and begged for his life.  He was the very first kitty to come into the building. The last 6 months he started struggling with his health and had several appointments with the vet.  He was an old cat, he was the only one that actually knew his age but we figure somewhere around 18 years old.  The last few weeks we could see that our time was coming to an end.  Today and yesterday we could not get him to eat,  all he did was curl up in a tight ball and sleep.  He looked miserable.  His eyes said he was tired,  we knew it was time to let him go.  Mack was absolutely the nicest cat you could ever hope to meet.  He loved all humans and got along with all cats.  The only time I ever saw Mack show any dislike of anyone or anything was dogs... OMG,  he strongly disliked dogs.  Mack lived as a stray for some time,  he had the scars that showed how rough his life had been.  For over 9 years he lived safely with us, warm, dry, fed and very much loved.  We will all miss his happy chirping purr and sweet disposition.   He went in my arms purring to the end.  My heart is broken. He would  visit with me when I would come in to do Scotty's insulin.  I would hold him in my arms and dance with him.    I shall miss him very much!
