Maggie
2/19 Maggie is a young leukemia positive kitty. She was found as a stray. The person who found her placed her in a new home. The new home called a few months later and said she could not keep the cat and needed to returned her to the first finder. She was injured when she was returned. She had been tested negative for leukemia before being placed the first time. She was retested when returned and test positive. The more definitive IFA test was run and she is positive. The vet said she could have a few good years so she was adamant that she not be killed, she would find a place for her to go. She had cats and was not able to keep her. She was very desperate because this cat did not have much time. She is a pretty feisty thing, after being thrown away several times and injured it is understanding that she is cautious with humans. We hope she will settle down soon. She will be going into a room in a few weeks. Update: She is now in House 2, room 2, You may watch her live on her cat camera HERE

12/18/2021 RIP Maggie Maggie came to us 2 years ago after losing her 3rd home. She was also leukemia positive. When she arrived she was pretty feisty and not a big fan of humans. (Understandably) She warmed up to us and decided she liked us. She liked to ride on our shoulders and made it a game running out of her room. A month ago she began losing weight and the blood work told us the story. She was anemic and the leukemia was in charge. We were back at the vet Wednesday with her to see if there was anything else we could do and to see how bad the anemic changes had been in a month because the weight loss was measurable even though she was still eating some. They were bad. Today was a nice day, she spent time laying in the sun and the staff spent lots of extra time with her. This afternoon she and I made our last trip to the vet together. She went over the rainbow bridge very peacefully in my arms. She was quite the character, very sweet and loving. We will miss her. I am sorry
