Mary Ann
12/19/17 We were alerted by several people about Mary Ann. She was a senior blind
lady sitting in animal control in Tampa that was to be euthanized. We put a call out to
Davica who has contacts every where to see if she could help. (This woman has personally
flown hundreds of animals to safety, several of them to us, she is a true angel who
walks the walk) Davica made a few phone calls and with in a hour this sweet old girl
was sprung from the pound. She had a foster home set up for a few days until she could
fly her to us. Mary Ann flew first class to us with Davica a few days later.
Mary Ann is approx 15 years old. Very thin (5 1/2 pounds) you can feel all of her bones.
She has been living on the streets for a time and is not in great condition. She is the
sweetest cat! She is enjoying having a soft bed and plenty of food! She has a great
appetite! All in all her blood work was better than we were expecting. She does
have an infection and has kidney issues but for her age and condition she is in better
condition than we expected. She is hypertensive.
Update: She has moved into her room. She loves people, she is not fond of the other cats.
You may watch her live on her live pet camera. She is in House 2, room 3.
Update: She has been diagnosed as hyperthyroid.
Because she is so frail we are treating it with
medication instead of radiation therapy.

This is a very sad letter to be writing today.
Maryann came into our life a year ago a sick blind senior cat in horrible condition
from living on the street. With lots of love and care we got her in better condition and
gave her a year of quality life. She knew what it was to be loved and cared for.
Last night she had a stroke and at 10:30 pm we rushed her to the vet. The vet and I
agreed the right thing to do was to let her go.
She went very quietly purring to the end.
Maryann was a character. She would yell at us every morning if the food was not
appearing as fast as she felt it should. She kept the other cats in line, smacking big
Scotty if he got in her way. She was a very sweet old lady who will be missed by all
that knew her.
