Gender: Male
Approximate age
Arrived From: Florida
Arrival Day: January 2023
Pedro was abandoned by his owner’s family in North Florida when they moved and
left him there. Vigilant neighbors noticed that he was still there and trying to fend for
himself and took him in. That was fine until he tested positive for FeLV since she had
other cats in her home. Not only that, she was moving away quickly, too, and
needed a place Pedro could go, which was not a shelter since he would have been
euthanized right away. We got the call and Pedro came to BCR! We suspect he had
mostly been an outside cat because he was not fixed and took a while to adjust to
using a litter box. His veterinary records noted that they had felt a mass in his abdomen
and an ultrasound during his initial visit here confirmed that. We’re keeping an eye on
it and right now this very sweet handsome boy is eating well and enjoying his life at
BCR. He loves people and will find an empty lap to sit in right away. He’s very chill
with a handsome face. We’re thankful Pedro landed with us!
You can see him on our live 24-hour cameras in House 2, Room 6.

Dear Supporters
We write to you with heavy hearts but with deep gratitude for the impact you made on Pedro's
life. It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Pedro's passing after his courageous battle
with cancer. He was a truly special soul who found hope and love through the support of kind
individuals like you.
Pedro’s journey began with hardship. Abandoned in North Florida when his owner’s family
moved away, Pedro was left to fend for himself, facing a harsh reality on the streets. Fortunately,
vigilant neighbors saw his plight and brought him in, only to discover he tested positive for Feline
Leukemia (FeLV) and that's when it was discovered he had a mass on his liver. The situation was dire
as the family could not keep him and was preparing to move quickly, with no shelter willing to take
him due to the risk of euthanasia. That’s when your generosity allowed us to welcome Pedro into our
care at BCR.
Pedro’s story, though marked by difficulty, was also one of resilience and love. From the moment he
arrived, it was clear that he was a gentle and affectionate boy who simply wanted to feel safe and
cherished. He spent his days finding laps to cozy up on and spreading joy with his goofy and loving
demeanor. He brought smiles to our faces with his handsome, expressive face and his ability to trust
and connect with people.
Thanks to your unwavering support, Pedro was given an additional two years of medical care,
comfort, and unconditional love. Your support made it possible for him to be monitored closely,
receive essential treatment, and live out his days in a nurturing environment. These extra years were
a gift that allowed Pedro to enjoy the warmth of being part of a family, even if it wasn’t the one he
was born into.
We are so grateful for your compassion and dedication, which provided Pedro the chance to live life
with dignity, surrounded by love. While our hearts ache from this loss, we are comforted by the
knowledge that Pedro felt safe and valued, all because of you.
Thank you for being a part of Pedro's story. Your support changed his life, and for that, we are
eternally grateful. He will be remembered fondly, not just as a cat who faced incredible challenges,
but as one who knew kindness, love, and peace.
With heartfelt
gratitude,
Sam
