Snicker
2011 Snicker came to us from the Cumberland County Animal Control Center in Cumberland County. This pound euthanizes over 11,000 animals per year so you can see how lucky he is to have made it out alive. He was very lucky to have some nice ladies working there that liked his friendly personality and went the extra mile to find a place for him instead of euthanizing him. He is super super friendly. 6/3/2015 Snicker developed a pneumothorax ( a life threatening infection in the chest, google it :) He was rushed to the Critical Care animal hospital in Cary to try to save his life. 60% survive. 6/7 Chest tubes, feeding tubes, antibiotics and oxygen therapy are doing their job. He is doing much better. We think he is out of the woods. It will still be several more days before he comes home. 6/12 He is home, still has a feeding tube, is doing better. Has to go back in 2 weeks for x-rays. 10/24/15 He is doing great, his last CT says the thing in his chest appears to be resolving itself. He is eating, playing and being the Snicker we know. 11/2020 Fast forward 5 years and he is doing ok. He has some residual lung issues and gets upper respiratory infections very easily but all and all, he is doing ok. Sponsored by Bhavana - Thank you! Sponsored by Angela - Thank you! 8/23/2021 RIP Snicker This is a letter that I just can not fathom that I am writing today. Snicker has been sick for the last few weeks and has been to the vet several times and in the hospital for the last 4 days. Today the vet did a sedated head x-ray of him because we just could not figure out what on earth was wrong with him. He had had test after test, treatment after treatment, tons of antibiotics and he was not improving. Sadly he passed away while under anesthesia. Snicker came to us 10 years ago from animal control where he was to be euthanized the next day. 6 years ago he survived a prothorax that has a small survival rate. He was a sweet loving fellow with a cute smile. He loved to follow the staff around as they cleaned the shelter. He loved to beg for treats and playing with crinkle toys. He would sit with Kristen when she repaired torn beds. He did a cute butt wiggle when he was excited. We are all devastated by his death.
